Interstellar Dreams

As a child, I often found myself pondering the origins of the universe and what it encompasses. However, my understanding was limited to the information provided in my school books, leaving these questions unanswered and lingering in my mind.

In today's digital age, the availability of information at our fingertips has significantly broadened knowledge horizons. Even kids now have access to a wealth of information, surpassing what most adults had during their childhood.

Living in India, we are fortunate to have ISRO, an aspirational organization that continually pushes the boundaries of space research. Their remarkable achievements, particularly highlighted by Chandrayaan-3, have sparked a newfound interest in space exploration among my children. Despite my concerns about screen time, I must admit that their passion for space is undeniable, often immersing themselves in space-related animation videos on YouTube. For me, this is a liberating experience, as the unaddressed questions from my own childhood are now finding resolution through my children's curiosity and exploration.

Recently, I recorded an audio clip of my 3-year-old enthusiastically singing a catchy space-related song he picked up from YouTube. It warmed my heart to see how much he has absorbed and how effortlessly he recites the names of celestial bodies and other cosmic wonders.

Here's a glimpse of what my kids have learned and are fascinated by:Dwarf planets like Ceres, Eris, and Makemake.Moons such as Titan and Europa.Stars like Arcturus, Antares, Vega, and UY Scuti.Constellations like Bootes and Sleeping Beauty.Nebulae like Cat's Eye and Horsehead.

It's incredible to witness their enthusiasm for space exploration at such a young age. It's a testament to the power of accessible knowledge and the wonder of the cosmos that captivates us all.

For the interested ones I am giving a brief description of each those celestial objects.

Dwarf Planets:

Ceres: Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. It is considered a dwarf planet and was the first dwarf planet to be visited by a spacecraft, NASA's Dawn mission. Ceres is unique because it may have water ice beneath its surface and possibly even a subsurface ocean.

Eris: Eris is one of the most massive dwarf planets in our solar system and is located in the Kuiper Belt, a region beyond Neptune. It is known for its role in the reclassification of Pluto from a planet to a dwarf planet. Eris has a highly elliptical orbit and is quite distant from the Sun.

Makemake: Makemake is another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt. It is known for its reddish appearance and is one of the brightest and largest objects in the region. Like Pluto and Eris, Makemake has a relatively distant and eccentric orbit.

Moons:

Titan: Titan is Saturn's largest moon and the second-largest moon in the solar system. It is known for its thick atmosphere and is the only moon with a significant atmosphere. Titan's surface is covered in lakes and rivers of liquid methane and ethane, making it a fascinating destination for future exploration.

Europa: Europa is one of Jupiter's Galilean moons and is known for its icy surface and subsurface ocean. It is considered one of the best candidates for finding extraterrestrial life in our solar system due to the potential habitable conditions beneath its icy crust.

Stars:

Arcturus: Arcturus is a bright orange giant star located in the constellation Boötes. It is one of the brightest stars in the northern hemisphere's night sky and is relatively close to Earth in astronomical terms.

Antares: Antares is a red supergiant star located in the heart of the Scorpius constellation. It is one of the largest known stars in the Milky Way and is easily visible due to its reddish appearance.

Vega: Vega is a prominent star in the constellation Lyra. It is one of the brightest stars in the night sky and is known for its blue-white color. Vega is also a part of the Summer Triangle, a prominent asterism.

UY Scuti: UY Scuti is a red supergiant star in the constellation Scutum. It is one of the largest known stars in the universe, with a radius that dwarfs the orbit of Earth. Despite its enormous size, it is too faint to be seen with the naked eye.

Constellations:

Boötes: Boötes is a constellation in the northern hemisphere. It is often associated with a herdsman or a plowman and contains the bright star Arcturus. It is visible during the spring and early summer months.

Sleeping Beauty (also known as Ursa Major): Ursa Major, also referred to as the Great Bear or the Big Dipper, is a well-known constellation in the northern sky. It is often recognized for its distinctive shape, which resembles a saucepan or ladle. The "Sleeping Beauty" reference might be a regional or cultural variation of its name.

Nebulae:

Cat's Eye Nebula: The Cat's Eye Nebula is a planetary nebula located in the constellation Draco. It got its name because its appearance resembles a cat's eye. This nebula is created by the ejected outer layers of a dying star.

Horsehead Nebula: The Horsehead Nebula is a dark nebula located in the Orion constellation. It is famous for its distinctive shape, which looks like the silhouette of a horse's head. It is a region of dust and gas that obscures the light from the stars behind it and is often photographed in conjunction with the nearby Flame Nebula.

About the pic: Interstellar is my favorite movie and watched it multiple times. The first time I watched it I was spellbound with the concept of Miller's planet. Miller's planet is orbiting a supermassive black hole called Gargantua, which is shown to warp space-time so magnificently that they can see its entire accretion disk, all at once. The unique way it appears in the film was derived from equations that physicist Kip Thorne generated. After passing through the wormhole, Coop's team decide to land on Dr. Miller's ocean planet, orbiting Gargantua, Due to Gargantua's massive gravitational pull, “every hour on that planet is seven years on Earth”.

Bonus Trivia: Did you know. in the movie, on Miller planet, the soundtrack in the background. has a prominent ticking noise? And these ticks happen every 1.25 second. Each tick you hear is a whole day passing on earth.

Naayak - A Boring flick

Naayak - Review
Rating :
2.5/5
Naayak Movie Review

Director: V. V. Vinayak
Produced by: D.V.V Danayya
Starring : Ram Charan Teja, Kajal Aggarwal, Amala Paul
Music by : Thaman

Naayak Movie Kajal agarwalWatched this movie on Sankranthi day at Kadapa.
A much hyped movie but only to anyone's disappointment I should say. The story lacked novelty. I feel it's a mix( read kichdi) of all blockbuster hits like Adurs, Businessman, Gabbar Singh.

Naayak Movie Charmee Hot SongStory : Not a gripping one, It gets boring somewhere in the middle as it is slightly dragging and very predictable
Music : The music is very good and Thaman did a great job. Charmee's item song was surprise.

Characters : RamCharan, Cherry, did a fair job. NTR would have been a better choice for this role. As the role demands having a funny bone, which I feel Cherry lacks compared to NTR. Kajal and Amala were fillers.
Rahul Dev's role is a shortlived one, and he hardly spoke anything throughout the movie. Pradeep Rawat as usual an agressive villain did his part ok.

Similarities to Other Movies

Naayak Movie AdursI wonder if I am the only one to feel that the movie has many starking similarities to the movie "Adhurs" directed by VV Vinayak himself.
Below are some of my observations
1) Hero Double Role
2) One of the character being a highly aggressive one
3) Kolkata background
4) Bramhi doing the similar comedian role
5) The location, where the climax fight sequence was shot was the same location where a similar fight sequence was shot in the movie Adurs.
6) The title song being the last song of the movie.
7) Ashish Vidyarthi playing the similar role

Naayak Movie BusinessmanBusinessman
1) The partnership with all goons
2) The song "Madam madam" somewhat goes in line with "Sir Osthara"

Naayak Movie Gabbar SinghGabbar Singh

1) The funny sequence where all goons are treated by Cherry's folks..is similar to the one in the Gabbar Singh.

Overall I feel it is not a worth watching in multiplex atleast..Wait till Ugadhi to watch it on TV, it's worth that:)

Out of curiosity I digged into the website, to check out on how she has positioned herself in this new website.

Radia Pegasus ProfileFrom no angle it seemed to me a
geniune consulting firm..or may be they are still developing it as they have safely put on top left corner that this website is also under construction.

Worst of all there are no career options :O.. I wanted to see the careers section ;P

I dont know if this new business of hers rakes any moolah for her ..but it will definitely help her to use the loads of cash stashed in Swiss banks.. for the records she has the highest account balance..more than Rajiv Gandhi :O

Rajnikanth - Legend among Legends

Today is 12/12/12 and the next time such thing happens is only after 100 years..and I am sure my grand children will then link to this post of mine :)

But what makes it more special is that today is Rajnikanth's bday.
The whole of film fraternity is so crazy of this day; blocking this day for movie releases, audio releases and rest celebrating his bday and am sure it will be the same way 100 years from now also.

Everyone likes rags to riches story, cos it gives the much required positive hope in life..There may be many similar to him...who from rags would have become richer..but being down to earth even after reaching the pinnacle is a rare characteristic...

I once dreamt of Superstar [Read this Dreams - can anyone beat me on that]

The next movie in line for Thalaivar is Kochadaiyaan, which is going to be a 3D film.

Rajni's life story is an inspiration to many..

weekend movies

Shor in the city : Rating (3/5)
for a change Tushar kapoor is watchable in this one..the editing of the movie was really good...the story starts with unrelated characters and finally culminates by connecting each of them with a common link..it's a time pass movie..The character 'mandook' is a highlight in this movie..it was played by Pitobash Tripathi- the one in pink shirt in the above pic

 Fast five (fast & furious 5) : Rating (2/5)

full masala.....in terms of story it's no different to any bollywood movie..I didn't like it much.. there was lil comedy.. the car chases werent that interesting...I liked the first car chase in the movie.. where the car dives into a river..breathtaking it was..
but otherwise ..overall the movie was so-so..not worth watching it in a multiplex..

Yes!

After a long pause comes this post just to assure everyone of my existence.
Oflate I've been quite busy both personally and professionally, hence couldnt catch up with my mates in blogosphere.

When I was in Hyderabad I watched this telugu movie Khaleja, and I so wanted to write a review on that one.  Not that it was an interesting flick but I wanted to enlighten the ignorant crowd that it is a movie inspired by a book.

Khaleja (Telugu)     Rating: 1.5/5
It's an okayish movie and as expected a typical commercial telugu movie with all aspects of entertainment like comedy,action,over-action, skin show etc. Mahesh babu and Anushka both added to the glamor quotient of the movie. The songs were pathetic except to the one which I liked, "Sada Siva"..If someone had asked me to rate the movie..I would have rated it 3/5 but since it is a copied concept and there is no reference to the original idea I downgrade it to 1.5/5.

I really wonder if anyone who watched the movie has also read this book "The immortals of Meluha" and not found anything similar. I felt the main theme of the movie and the book were almost same.
Last week I got this opportunity to meet Amish Tripathi, the author of the book, who was surprised that a movie has already come out with his concept. I made this point when he was discussing about his plans to make a movie based on the book.

I've listed out the similarities and have mailed it to Amish, which are as follows.

Book

Movie

The people of Meluha wait desperately for a savior

The people of the mysterious village wait desperately for a savior, whom they call as GOD

Throat turning blue is an indication of Lord

Here they don’t have the neelakanta concept but there exists a plot by which the Lord will be discovered

Shiva is considered as GOD, and he hates being called that because he thinks he is a normal human being like anyone

Mahesh Babu is considered as GOD, and even he hates being called

Later part of the book Shiva, internalises the belief that he is Lord

ditto

Nandi always accompanies Shiva

In this movie there is this character(played by Shafi) who always sticks to him wherever he goes..and who is also from the mysterious village

Bhadra is a good friend of Shiva

In this one, he doesn’t have a childhood friend but a person (played by Ali) becomes his good friend and sticks around with him

There is one scene in which Mahesh and Ali booze and then talk about the heroine (played by Anushka), it just resembles the scene when Shiva and Bhadra have marijuana and talk about Sati
The movie has a song "Sada Siva", praising Lord Shiva..which shows that the director of the movie has used the image and character of Lord Shiva to portray the character of the protagonist.

Dreams - can anyone beat me on that!

Well readers, Endhiran (Robot) releases today and it is supposed to the most costliest movie in Asia. Supposedly the last movie of Rajnikanth. It has all winning combination in it..RajniKanth, Shankar(my fav), A R Rahman(my fav)..and yea of course Aishwarya. So totally a power packed film. They seem to have marketed it aggressively because it is talked about in every other channel. Whatever be it this movie will seem more logical to me unlike his other movies [stunts will be no different from any other movie]..because he is robot in this movie (so it makes it credible :D).

Ok now coming to the actual story of this post...you may not know this..that.. even I was a movie actor..yes you read it correctly.....

Movie marathon - reloaded

My nine day long vacation ends today :(. I am sad on the thing that I couldn't make it to the desert safari and the reason being, unable to get 2 more people to accompany me [ min three are required for the trip :(]. And from tomorrow onwards starts my struggle....phew~ just ten more days and I will be done with the Doha chapter.
Today evening I walked along the corniche road to spend my last few hours of vacation. I walked for about 2hrs today and it's the longest I walked in the recent times. Really loved the place, it's an ideal one for evening jog/walks.

Finally I managed to get one photo clicked but that too in an awkward position. In this pic you can see my office building, which is the rightmost tower. It has small dome on top of it.

Apart from that as expected from the title I've been watching movies one after the other in this weekend. I've watched totally 7 movies, 1 hindi and 6 english movies. So here goes my short reviews

Dabangg (Hindi) Rating 2.5/5
Again yet another Salman khan's family movie.. Thank GOD Sohail khan was not there. The comedy part of the movie is just ok and some of the action sequences are copied from hollywood movies....atleast one such of it I remember seeing in the movie Banlieue 13 (french movie). Sonakshi had really a sorry role...not better than a cameo role.....I dont understand one thing why do they need Malaika Arora for an item song...they couldnt find any other girl or was that a cost cutting measure.... A lot of muscle exposing fights...both Sonu sood and Salman competed on who will show the most...i couldnt stop laughing as Salman's shirt tears open when he gets angry on Sonu sood..Overall an okayish movie.

RobinHood (English) Rating 4/5
Good comedy, interesting story (I doubt if it is real), but you will never get bored throughout the movie.
Rusell Crowe as usual acted really well so was Cate Blanchett
People who love war movies...

The marathon continues

This week was the shortest ever I felt, I still feel the last weekend was just day before yesterday and now am in my 4th weekend. Time just flies when you keep counting weekends and not weekdays.

As usual I've been watching movies till now. I've watched 3 tamil movies and 1 hindi movie.

Madrasapattinam (Tamil) Rating : 3.5/5
This is yet another movie which has some parts inspired by Lagaan like the love between the firang girl and our desi hero and wrestling match between hero and fiance of the girl(british officer). But overall the movie is ok. The music is very good. I loved the song thaana thaana

M.Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi (Tamil) Rating : 3/5
Totally mass oriented movie. A good time pass. The comedy portion is really good. Apart from that its a regular masala drama. It's a remake of the telugu movie "Amma Naana O tamil ammayi". So in telugu the heroine,Asin, plays a Tamil girl and in this one she plays a Malayalam girl.

I Hate Luv Storys (Hindi) Rating : 1/5
Got so bored with this, but I had nothing better to do so was watching it till the end. I liked Sonam in Delhi6 but in this one she dint look that great. The story is pathetic and the comedy really sucked.

Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (Tamil) Rating : 4.5/5
This one is the best movie I've watched this weekend. It's again a love story. But the story is different. Jyotika and Surya acted really well. The music is also another highlight. It's only  after watching the movie, I discovered that it was by our Oscar winner. I loved this song "Munbe Va En Anbe", beautiful tune.

Happy Independence Day

This is the official instrumental of the National Anthem of India.

The below video is what our Indian Idols have contributed to the nation

From time immemorial historians all over the world have been writing about India. I am not going to write about India, cos how much ever I write about the greatness of our nation it is like a drop in an ocean.
I just want to say that I am
"Proud to be an Indian"

Movie marathon

My 3rd weekend in Doha just got over. So far it has been a movie festival for me.
I watched 3 tamil ,2 hindi and 1 telugu movie
The following are those,in the order I liked them.

Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu (Tamil)     Rating: 5/5

As the title suggests, it's a movie centering on Kabaddi. Has mild similarities with Lagaan and Chak de India where the underdogs team end up becoming superstars. I loved this movie. The story, the characters and the whole setup was very realistic and natural, unlike many of the telugu commercial movies. It's a touching story.
The actress Saranya Mohan is very pretty in this movie.

Amrit (Hindi) Rating: 4.5/5

It's a Rajesh Khanna movie. It was screened on Zee Aflan. As expected a sentimental and moving story. I liked the story and the way it was made.

Raajneeti (Hindi) Rating: 4/5

As some one said it is indeed a mahabharata in 2.5hrs. It was like watching mahabharata in fast forward mode. It's not a bad flick and I can recommend this movie to others. It's all about political strategies.

Vasool Raja MBBS (Tamil) Rating: 3/5

I've watched Munnabhai MBBS in hindi and Shankardada MBBS in telugu. This movie is not that good when compared to the other versions. Kamal doesnt seem to miss any chance of exposing his biceps. Every alternate scene you see him flexing it.
But I am a big fan of Kamal Hassan, he is one complete actor. Sadly none of his recent movies are my favorites.

Yaaradi Nee Mohini (Tamil) Rating: 1/5

It's a remake of the telugu movie "Aadavari Matalaku Ardhaale Verule". The telugu movie is much better than the tamil version. Danush was definitely a wrong pick for the lead role. Wonder how can people digest the fight stunts of this boney guy.

Don Seenu (Telugu) Rating: 0/5

Worst of all movies I watched this weekend. The story is so pathetic, wonder how can some one think doing such movies. It was supposed to be a comedy movie, but no scene was worth a laugh. Throughout the movie..it just gets worse as u go on watching it...making you throw up at the climax.

Next am going to watch
Madrasapattinam (Tamil)

Home alone in Doha

I am back to my solitude..and ya that's when I remember my alter-ego, the unknown (aparichithudu).
Its been 3 days here in the gulf land. I am in Doha, capital city of Qatar.
For a change there were no hassles this time during the whole journey.
It's my first weekend here and I am so bored. It is almost half the boiling point outside so cant dare to get out.
I am all alone in this 2BHK flat as my other roommate has gone to India to get his visa renewed. The unsecured wifi which we shamelessly steal also connects intermittently. And naturally even though you have some pending work at office it doesnt appeal much to work on weekends.

Thanks to the pirates, got to watch 'Tere Bin Laden' and 'Kattha Meetha' online. Both were not that funny as I expected to be. But TBL was better. In Kattha Meetha I felt, the stupidity part of Akshay was dragged to much. Trisha's character was crappy. It was like any another supporting actor and not a lead role. It wasn't that impactful.

Owing to my joblessness I say(but some say narcissism) I kept myself busy with self photography.
Here are my faces with different moods.
Weak-hearted ones should strictly avoid.
Children are supposed to browse under parental guidance.

Scary faces

It is not my homesickness but this time I want to go back to India soon. I've some plans for future , If all goes well InshaAllah I will be back in 2months.
