Rajnikanth - Legend among Legends

Today is 12/12/12 and the next time such thing happens is only after 100 years..and I am sure my grand children will then link to this post of mine :)

But what makes it more special is that today is Rajnikanth's bday.

The whole of film fraternity is so crazy of this day; blocking this day for movie releases, audio releases and rest celebrating his bday and am sure it will be the same way 100 years from now also.

Everyone likes rags to riches story, cos it gives the much required positive hope in life..There may be many similar to him...who from rags would have become richer..but being down to earth even after reaching the pinnacle is a rare characteristic...

The next movie in line for Thalaivar is Kochadaiyaan, which is going to be a 3D film.

                 Rajni's life story is an inspiration to many..

Retrospect!

This is a summary of my experiences in the whole of the year 2008.

January (Janvier) :- The whole of the month I was in Saudi. I still remem the new year party, I got sloshed, puked, abused a few...and finally crashed on a sofa....

I had to come back to India to attend my interviews. I came back on 27th Jan. Reported at Mumbai office, I was very happy to be back in India

February (Février):- I was in Hyd. Everyone at home were scared looking at me thinking I was sick with some disease. (Reminding all my readers again that I cut down weight by almost 10 kgs in a month). Once again readers, my bday is in Feb so in case if you wish to gift me something and confused on what to give, please drop a message I will let you know my wish-list :)

March (Mars) :- I was back to Mumbai office. In the middle of the month I had to go to Bangalore for another intvw. This was the month I made biggest of all the gains I ever made in stock market. I could predict every move of the market.

April (Avril) :- The bull run continued for me till the 14th April(Ambedkar Jayanthi :O).Ok the story goes like this. I was so over confident that I put all the money I made till then and also a significant amount from my best friend in the greed to make huge profits, on 11th(friday) of April. I was very confident that the following monday markets world wide would fall. As expected there was a bloodbath in world wide markets except ours. I was surprised to discover that 14th April was Ambedkar's  Jayanthi and it was holiday for our markets. As Murphy’s  law goes the markets went against my predictions on tuesday and I lost almost all of the money I invested. I was so psyched that in a hurry to recover the money, I placed orders with the remaining amount in my account on thursday and again to my shock friday was holiday(this time Mahavir jayanthi). The following monday again markets went against my expectations and thats it. That was the end of all my dreams. I was in a shock and it took sometime for me to recover. I was sad that I lost not only mine but also my friend's hard earned money.

May (Mai) :- This month was again a turning point in my life, a lot of things happened. I got 2 job offers which I declined for a seat in IIM Calcutta. Within my company I had 2 US and UK onsite opportunities. I was in a dilemma to whether go for IIM or to take GMAT and go for US/UK onsite. But finally decided to join IIM.

June (Juin) :- The first week in the campus was the best experience I should say. I felt like dropping out of the course. I couldn’t take the pressure :O. Later it subsided and I started enjoying the course. In the first few days I was complaining on everything. I thought there would be many grounds and stadia like IITs. Now I realised it's actually waste of money because we hardly get any time to play. The free time we get we spend for club activities or watching movies. So the limited sports infrastructure in the campus is the optimum I believe.

July (Juillet):- The first exam in the campus was the qualifying mathematics. Surprisingly it was a cakewalk(Our seniors scared us that the Profs fail students mercilessly). We had our midterms in this month.

August (Août):- We had gone for the Inter-IIM sports meet in this month at IIM B. We were thrashed by B in almost all of the events. It was a big disappointment for all of us. I was part of the Hockey team. We were very confident that we would win at least hockey, but we lost it. We were leading in the first half of the game but towards the end they scored two goals in quick succession. That was the first time I played on a turf court.

September ( Septembre) :- The first term got over and officially we finished 1/6 th of MBA.

October (Octobre):- We had a week vacation for Durga Puja.  Didn’t realise how I spent the time.It gotover in a jiffy. Everyone was busy preparing for internships for whole of the month.

November (Novembre):- The summer placement week was one hell of an experience. We had GDs for most of the marketing companies, which often ends up becoming fish market. You can see the heights of desperation in people(that includes me). seriously feel the process is so painful. The typical questions why you? Why me? huh! had to memorize details of a lot of companies. The best experience of all was this-> I attended a telephonic intvw with one of the leading logistics companies. our placerep informed me that it was an operations and logistics role. So during the intvw I went on talking about my passions blah blah on operations to only discover to the end that they were looking for strategy :). I somehow tried to convince them that strategy was also my interest but then the heat was lost by then :D...finally got placed in a investment bank start-up.

December (Decembre):- I should say this month was by far the best one till date. Our second term got over in the first week of the month. So done with 1/3rd of MBA. We had our Cul-fest during 19-21 Dec. It was a failure as it was wrong time for any cul-fest and we had a low turn-out. A lot of colleges in Kolkata had their exams during these days. Still it was fun organizing the events. During 28-30 Dec we had another fest called Reminisence(Alumni reunion). This time it was batch of 1983. It was a great experience to interact with people with 25 years of work experience. Most of them were Managing Directors, CEOs and Professors in leading Bschools. I was part of the organizing team and got to rub shoulders with honchos of the industry.

I am doing a French course and have picked up a few lines.

2005 The year in retrospect

To all my readers(are there any????) , I wish you all a Happy New Year, hope all your wishes come true at least this year.

The last post I wrote was 3 months back, the reason being I had nothing to write about. The last few days my life was routine, boring and I was too lazy to write something.
I actually forgot my blogspot user id and password, huh! after some n number of trials finally cracked it.

For a change I felt this year was bit lengthy unlike 2005, as mentioned in this post , cos I was jobless most of the time.

Jan 2006:- I hate this month always, cos of the Cat results, seriously a worst way to start a year. As expected my cat got f*ked. I put 47 perc in Verbal [:O], I had actually attempted all 2 markers (was greedy ;) In DI put 95 perc, Quant 99.** and total was 95.*. I felt bad cos that was the first time I prepared bit seriously but my bad luck was too good. In the same month my Santa Claus, Anurag, came to India. He got a lot of goodies and chocs. I got my camcorder (Samsung SC D353).

Feb 2006:- The shortest month.
Again a reminder about my birthdays, you may gift me any thing from my wish list. I started experimenting my new camcorder, took few videos and I’ve them posted at www.youtube.com. Apart from that I don’t remem doing anything interesting in that month.

Mar 2006:- Our team (about 20 odd people) went to Mount Opera for team outing. It has got a lot of water sports. It’s a nice place to freak out.
Praveen Pinto, my closest friend at office, and I went to Chennai as he had to attend his interview at LIBA for his MBA program. Then I went to my coll, IIT M, just the day after Holi. Stayed in one of my juniors room. The same day whole evening I was treating my juniors, got sloshed, we boozed till 3 in the morning.

Apr 2006:- Fools month. I remem watching 3 movies, highest in a single month in my whole life. “Humko Deewane Kar Gaye”,” Pyare Mohan” and “Ice Age 2”. All of them at PVR, Hyderabad Central.

May 2006:- I can never forget this month. May 11th in particular when sensex crashed badly. Thanks to one great personality, whom I happened to meet during my Chennai trip, on whose suggestion I bought a huge lot of one stock. I actually sold all my stocks and just bought this one. I bought it at an average price of 92 and now its current market price is 63. I sold the whole lot for losses and incurred about 30k lossL. That’s when I learnt never ever go blindly on some one’s suggestion, u need to do some homework before investing.

Jun 2006:- Praveen pinto left as he got admission in LIBA. Right from the first day till the last day we rarely discussed something technical...throughout the breaks we used to discuss about shares, business, mba etc. So missed him a lot.
Jul 2006:- I started going to gym. This time I was bit serious unlike every time, when I used to join gym and leave in a week. My weight then was 75kgs.

Aug 2006:- This was my last month in the project. I was in this project for almost 2 years. This project is more like a 2 yr jail term cos once a person gets into this project he’ll get released only after completing 2 years. I am the only guy who enjoyed the whole 2 yrs. Frankly speaking I never worked more than 3 hrs a day. My work used to start only when stock market gets closed. But those 3 hrs I used to work efficiently so could finish all assignments on time.

Sep 2006:- Unallocated. I was on bench the whole month. My daily schedule was like this. I used to come to office at 2-3pm ,check mails, put follow up mails to our resource allocation team, leave at 4pm to gym and then used to call it a day. This was the time I was bit serious about work outs. I increased the time from 1hr a day to 2 hrs. My work out schedule was like this.
Monday: - Shoulders, triceps and abs + cardio
Tuesday: - Biceps, Chest and abs + cardio
Wednesday: - Thighs, calves and abs + cardio
Thursday: - Shoulders, triceps and abs + cardio
Friday: - Biceps, Chest and abs + cardio.

Oct 2006:- Increased my work out time to 3hrs a day. I had no other work at office other than working out at gym. And anyone of my friends who used to come to meet me, they used to come directly to gym. I was more regular than our gym coach. My weight then went below 70kgs. I was very happy about that. I remem running 5kms in 25 mins which was my best post IIT period. During my final year my best was 18min 30 sec, which I can never achieve.

Nov 2006:- I was on holiday for whole of the month. Thanks to my new project. Btw people my new project is an onsite project and the location is Saudi Arabia. We were told that we were confirmed for this new project and we have to fly to Delhi only on Nov1st evening and till then we had no idea about where we were heading.
Day 1:
Nov2nd early morning 3 of us flew to Delhi. This trip was to get our degree certificate attested by Ministry of HRD, Ministry of External affairs and Saudi Embassy. This attestation is must for applying visa. We reached delhi at morning 6:00 and then started our search for accommodation, as the previous day was holiday at our hyderabad office we could not get acco from our company. We were told almost all hotels were booked and it’s very difficult to get accommodation. Finally we got into a hotel called Janpath close to Connaught place. This hotel is the worst I’ve ever seen. It looked more like a brothel house. We dumped our luggage there and left to get our doc attested at HRD. Finally by end of the day fought with our office people and got into our transit quarters.

Day 2: By now we were a lot familiar with the roads. The connaught place area was so confusing the first day we actually got lost. We went to MEA at tilak marg got our doc attested. There we saw India gate, Rashtrapathi Bhawan and Parliament.
Day 3: It was Saturday and we all planned to go to Agra. We saw Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, Mathura. 8 of us took an Innova and left in the early morning and returned back the same evening.

Day 4: Saw Lotus temple and Akshardham.

Day 5:- Got attestation done at Saudi Embassy and the same day evening we left to Mumbai. We were given accommodation at Andheri East.

Nov6-Nov18: - We had training on Siebel for all these days. And during this period we saw a lot of Mumbai. Some of the places we saw Gateway of India,Chowpati, Haji Ali, Maha Lakshmi temple,Bandstand,Lower parel etc.

Nov19 :- Early in the morning around 2 am left to hyderabad as I had to take CAT. Some how managed to take the exam. As usual didn’t feel like I did great. The worst part of this exam was the 5 ans options. Especially in verbal section where I face difficulty even when only 2 options are given, then you can imagine how bad my situation was. I did well in RCs and got most of them correct and all Non-RC I attempted I got wrong.
For the next 1 week I was busy with the visa application.

Dec 2005:- Left to mumbai again for the second phase of training. This time we had training at Thane office so were given accommodation at Thane. Currently am staying in the same place.

Hope this coming year will be better one for me.

Hmm…the last few days…were really bad….The year started with a big blow …CAT results. hmm now am not going to talk anymore about that. I am planning to attempt one more time (last in my life)..if even the next one fails.. will start a CAT coaching center I think I have enough credentials for that.

Today wrote XAT exam but this one was not a whole hearted one.. all the time was in a light mood.. The center I wrote the exam ,there was even Infosys Test. The place was crowded and can’t make out who has come for what exam. I saw two of my TIME batch mates standing in the Infosys queue, haha they got confused and almost went into the infy exam rooms. I then called them and told about this.

Before the exam we were discussing about the game TOMB RAIDER. I played TR Gold, TR Chronicles and The lost artifact. During that discussion I said that Tomb raider uses tampons under water. Actually that was by mistake it was harpoons (rhymes with tampon ;) ..) Then there was sudden silence around us that’s when I realized the mistake.

Apart from that nothing great, a cute chic sat next to me but whatever the paper, the toughest exam I have taken till now, negated the whole mood.

I am reading this book ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’, good book; I should have read this book long time back. ‘Better late than never’. Soon I’ll write a review and synopsis for the book in my other blog which I started oflate.
Bullshit
My New Year resolution (made it today only):-
Am planning to do a lot of things. Some things which were my hobbies during my childhood like sketching, running. Read at least one novel per month.
Planning to do NCFM, have to see how far I’ll be successful.

I some how feel the year 2005 is the quickest year in my life...i still feel the last new year was just few months back..;)
Ok for me new year is nothing great just change of last two digits in the date...I dont believe in resolutions or celebrations..

Jan 2005 :- Those days was sick of this job then planned to apply for some good one...Thanx to Muqqa..(my school friend)..
he referred me to  a good company(he is working)....My heights of stupidity ...i didnt qualify the HR round (haha..)..
...then learnt how to tackle an interview.. have to learn from our failures.....year started with a good lesson....
Thanks to a cute friend (chic) in office the month passed quickly...

Feb 2005:- The shortest month...OK viewers its bday month ok u may check out my wishlist..and i dont mind whatever is the gift..am bit adjusting type...
I remem participating Couple O quiz that month ...that's one thing i remem...apart from that nothing great

Mar 2005:-Hmm..Ok that month I had been to IIT madras... Meghamsh and myself...we went by Charminar express..i still remem the adventurous trip....
right from getting into train till reaching chennai..hardly we reached chennai Megsi left to sharav(non-males hostel). ;) Am sure  no Sharavite will read my blog...
I pity this guy still behind the same person...Megs.(aquarian like me...count on him any day.....my tongue victim (i say that cos..whatever i say it worksout only him) ... )...Some of the pics u see in my blog....were taken those days...Then met one more
loser Keerthi.(sensitive ,romantic..ok i dunno what pppl think about him..atleast this much i feel is true about him)..loopline victim...
Overall March was really gr8 cos of the trip...

Apr 2005:- Fools month..Those days was a sincere worker..devoted...(ok i have this bad quality..curiosity...zeal to learn things quickly..oflate i realised ignorance is bliss)
I some how settled with the current job...cos i planned to do MBA..so no point changing job...
One good thing was i started blogging..

May 2005:-i joined theTIME class room course...then the daily boring work..thats it..

Jun2005 :-TIME mocks started ...got mothered..I some how dont find the return over the investment(hardwork) i put..lets see..

Jul2005 :- I became a regular blogger..My friend Anil returned to India...from Spore...(He is in the most wanted list in Spore..found live or dead $100000)
Anil..the most confused...weird...my type person..we think alike...ok..he is the class version...again an aquarian like me
Anil got a Arsenal jersey for me...but the saddest thing is arsenal not doin well.this season..!....

Aug2005:- I started my shares business..ok till date am still an amateur...need to read a lot..how to analyse and make decisions...
My first profit with IDFC ipo..115%...u may chek out the archives...blogging for me is like writing a personal dairy..i never had this habit b4...but now...am addicted..

Sep2005:- Thats when exam tension was the highest..cos was left with just 2 months..had to cram all those basics..and my Mocks were also very bad..

Oct2005:- When i read the posts  i wrote(archives) i feel as if i wrote them just few days back...time is sprinting...Nothing great with that month also...
as i was busy with work and studies..

Nov2005:- Mother of all months...just cos it has got the pussy...now viewers dont get me wrong..i meant CAT..common admission test...;)
just one word i get in my mind...mothered...Its cos of this CAT i felt the time  was running...after the exam..it came back to its lackadaisical form...

Dec2005:-One month i felt was really coool..bindaas( no tensions at alll)...and one more friend Sai (studyin in US) came for few days ..He gave me
one blue color sexy pullover...arrey Sai Kri thanx maaaaaama.......
SaiKri...he is the main contributor to our group's wieghted avg IQ...bookworm..devours books...very modest...that's it...if i write more..he'll doubt himself...

Now Bhargav is one person who had been with me throughout the year unlike those above..Hmm..one person....very ambitious...laziest person...any movie or outing i went out was with him...


Just one person is left to write about...but this one is goin to come in Jan2006...so i'll write about him later...He is my Santa Claus as of now...gettin loads of gifts..but delayed delivery...next month.. :D


But the coming year i feel will be very bad.....cos all my friends above i talked above will not be around with me...
All going for their higher studies abroad....
I'll be a loner....I call them my best friends cos they have been with me in the best days of my life...IIT life....
We lived together....

I dont know when will be the next get together...
My guess Anurag's marriage...what do  u all say??????
